PC-series plasma jets

The world’s first PC-series cannula plasma jets give you a totally new range of application flexibility with the 2 gas connections! HHF offers on the one hand a compact 250 W jets (PC-B) with two different gases and on the other hand 500 W jet (PC-SF) for a use of a lot of materials and processes.

Characteristics of the PC-series microwave plasma jets – a brief overview:

    • High-purity atmospheric 2.45 GHz plasma with power ratings up to 250 W / 500 W
    • High power density and temperature through jet focusing and minimal gas flow cooling
    • Activation / cleaning / cutting / welding of diverse materials, particularly plastics and thin foils
    • Soldering /heating of powder and coating of diverse materials (only PC-SF)
    • Activation / cleaning / coating / melding/ welding … of yarns, (massive) fibers, wires (only PC-SF)
    • Can be used for almost all gases (for gas1 no restriction is known, gas2 works with noble gas (typ. argon) at just 0.1 l/min!)
    • Optimally suited for hand and robot (100% potential-free)
    • Extremely low energy requirements
    • Extremely handy and if necessary a short model
    • Robust jets in stainless steel and compact housing
    • Maintenance-free and wear-free

In a number of points is the PC-B-jet better than a laser, in particular with regards to safety aspects. The PC-B-jet supports Rapid-Heating for high energy densities.

Brief overview: Technological applications

Important application areas:

    • Rapid heating: replacement for laser.
    • Activation of plastic surfaces for welding, melting, painting, imprinting, coating, adhesive bonding and many other processing steps.
    • Cleaning of various metal surfaces for soldering, painting, imprinting, coating, adhesive bonding and many other processing steps.
    • Disinfection and sterilization of instruments, in the area of medical technology, extending to disinfection and sterilization of wounds.
    • Soldering of metals with soft solder or hard solder (only PC-SF).
    • Melting of surfaces and drilling of holes.
    • Labelling of various materials.
    • Burn-in of paints.
    • Separation, welding and coating of various materials.
    • Coating of various materials (only PC-SF).
    • Ageing of components.
    • Treatment of yarns, wires, glass and carbon fibers,passing straight forward the cannula and the plasma. (only PC-SF).

Product overview – PC-series plasma jets

The plasma jets consist of a stainless steel housing, as well as Teflon and various temperature-resistant copper alloys as electrode feed, high voltage transformation network, as well as electrodes. There is no tungsten, and thus oxygen and air can also be used as process gas. This means that these jets allow all non-aggressive gas as process gas. Due to the electrical optimization, a noble gas must be used for gas2 (as a rule argon or Varigon). The different jets and different applications are presented in the photos and illustrations below.

The electrodes are wear-free and maintenance-free. However, if there is no gas flow the electrodes can be destroyed through overheating. Spectroscopic measurements confirm that no electrode material is found in the plasma. Thus a pure gas plasma is guaranteed. Fig. 5 below shows the new type of the SF-cannula electrode structure. In particular, the gas2 channel, which is produced purely as a copper tube, is ideally suited for coatings and other special applications.
